Emma Pulling Up to Stand & Kids Playing

Emma pulling up to stand for the first time! Pardon the mess behind her...there's usually a mess behind wherever Emma has been. She a little destructinator!

The kids playing a game where they lay on their backs and bang their legs up and down on the ground in tandem. Makes a lot of noise, but it's cute since they are doing it together! It was hard to get Emma to keep doing it. Every time she sees the camera, she stops, but normally they will do this for 5-10 minutes. So funny!

Will's First Day of School

Today Will started pre-K. Last night we packed up his backpack and picked out his clothes. I set his stoplight alarm for 8:10 (school starts at 9). This morning at 8:15 he walked into my room fully clothed, with his shoes and backpack on, and said, "Mommy, I'm ready for school." I was still in bed, hehe. We ate breakfast, dressed Emma, and got in the car. Will said, "I want to listen to the real thing song on the way to school," so I popped in his favorite U2 cd. We got to the school and before I got Emma out, I picked Will up and gave him a big hug and kiss and told him how proud we all are of him. On the way up to the school, Will fell down and skinned his knees in the parking lot. I was afraid it would ruin his excitement, but he was mostly upset about how the booboos looked, and when his teacher asked if he needed a bandaid, he said, "No! thank you." Will hates bandaids. I showed him his cubby and gave him a hug and he was already running off. Before I had time to stand up from squatting down to hug him, he was in the middle of a group of kids playing something. So proud of him, and I can't wait to pick him up for lunch and hear about his day.

Emma Crawling on All 4's

Emma crawling on 4's! 13 mos, 1 week old.

Backyard Fun

This month has been warmer and we've spent a lot of time playing in the backyard. The inflatable pool is blown up, and we got a slip n' slide for Will. They also like riding their big wheel and ride on toys outside. Emma actually went in the kiddie pool for the first time today. Last night she took her first bath ever, in over 13 months, without screaming the whole time, so I decided to try the pool too. I had to hold her in my lap and not let go, but she had fun! She splashed her hands and rolled the ball back and forth with Will across the water. It was a good time for all 3 of us. This week Emma also started crawling on all 4's for a foot or two. We're so happy to see some progress and that she is getting stronger. I took a short video before she plopped back onto her tummy to drag along (which she's really fast at!). Everyday she's up on all 4's a little longer each time. Very exciting! I'm hoping next will be pulling up to stand, which she still has not been able to do. She's up on her knees though a lot now, and very steady if we place her on her feet holding on to something, so there's progress there too.

July 4th 2011

July 3 we spent with our friends the Penfolds. The girls and Will had fun playing together and we some nice barbecue in their beautiful backyard. The next day, we went to a swimming party for the church's family ministry. We hadn't been swimming since summer of 2009, so Will was kind of freaked out at first and just wanted to stand in the shallow end, but was really having fun by the time we left. Jered pulled him around and played "motor boat" with him. That was a hit!
