Nose and Mouth

Emma has been learning body part names. On this video, you can see her identify her leg, mouth and nose. Smarty pants! Within the last week she's also learned necklace, handle, tree, and sticker. She's constantly asking "What is this?" or "What is it?" She may not walk yet, but she's got a lot going on upstairs!

Tickle Tickle

Out of the blue one day Emma started tickling herself and saying "tickle tickle tickle." I was tickled (pardon the pun) and of course had to get a video! You can also hear her say "chair" one of her new favorite words since she learned how to climb up in Will's rocking chair last week.

Chula Vista Nature Center

A few weeks ago at the end of August, before we all got sick, I took the kids to the Chula Vista Nature Center. Will loved the exhibits, and even though this is the second or third time he's been there, he's finally old enough to be really excited and remember what he saw. Both of their favorites were the shark and ray area. There's a special petting tank so you can touch the rays. We also go to see the shark feeding. We walked the nature trails outside and went all the way down to the shore of the bay. It was a fun day!

Will's School Pictures

Will's school pictures came in today. They all turned out so well! He's photogenic I guess :)

Will's 4th Birthday

For Will's 4th birthday weekend, we went to Legoland for 2 days. Abby flew in and went with us. Will had a great time with all the rides, and even went on 2 roller coasters. Everything in Legoland is geared for younger children, 42" and 4yrs old - perfect for Will! There was even a couple rides that I could take Emma on. The weekend following his birthday, we had a party for 12 of Will's friends. We did a "splash" party in the backyard - a single and a double slip n slide, kiddie pool, and water table. The theme for the party was Star Wars, picked by Will at Party City. We had cupcakes and cookie pops and snacks. Everyone had a great time! Will is still having fun at school. He did his first show and tell Thursday. He brought his Cubbies portfolio to show the class. They bring items beginning with the letter of the week - which was C this week.

In the few weeks since my last post, Emma has mastered crawling and pulling up, and now she's cruising all over the place. This week, she learned how to get down from standing - without me or Will helping her. She has also mastered signing "more," and very clearly says "more" or "done" and "thank you" during mealtimes. She has also called Will by his proper name a few times this week instead of "Wawa," which has been her name for him the last 5 months. Her last 2 appointments - GI and ENT - both went well. Yesterday at her GI appointment, they weighed her at 22lbs5oz, 31.5". Because she has been gaining weight again and no longer having cyanosis and apnea episodes, the ENT is letting us put off her surgery longer. The GI was fascinated by her speaking voice, not understanding how you could  talk so clearly with both cords paralyzed. Emma's short life has been full of miraculous things!
